THE headteacher of Radcliffe High School has paid tribute to a 15-year-old pupil who died in a crash last Friday.

Pedestrian Natalie Danielle Pickwick-Jones was fatally injured when she was in collision with a sports car as she crossed Bolton Road, Radcliffe, at 11pm.

A man arrested on suspicion of causing the death of Natalie by dangerous driving has been released on police bail.

The teenager of Olsberg Close was struck by a Toyota MR2 near to the junction of Canuter Street.

She suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Fairfield General Hospital where she later died.

The Toyota was travelling towards Bolton when the accident happened.

On Monday, Natalie's fellow Year 10 pupils at Radcliffe High School were told of her death.

Mr Alan Smith, head teacher of the school in Abden Street, paid tribute to Natalie. He said: "She was a bright, intelligent girl who was very friendly and lively and was a very popular figure around school.

"As you can imagine, the school is very subdued and we have set up a Book of Remembrance to allow staff and pupils to write messages about Natalie.

"We will offer as much support as is needed to Natalie's friends at this sad time."
