MANCHESTER United are helping Bacup Borough move a step nearer the UniBond League.
For the Old Trafford outfit have donated 54 seats from the South Stand to the West View club.
League inspectors gave Boro a list of things to do to meet required standards after a ground grading last week. Among them was extra seating in the main stand, and for the second season in succession, United came to the rescue.
"I spent most of Friday at Old Trafford and we've now got the seats that we needed to be able to join the UniBond League," said Bacup manager Brent Peters.
"Now we need to get some revolving turnstiles and get the covered stand terraced by the end of the month."
So while work is being done off the pitch to make sure Bacup are geared for the UniBond League, Peters' side have the chance to also maintain a league position worthy of promotion as, weather permitting, they travel to take on Warrington Town tonight.
But Peters admitted he wouldn't lose any sleep if the game was called off.
"We could do with a game this week after not playing on Saturday but preferably not against Warrington because we play them in a two-legged semi final at the end of the month," he said.
"I don't like playing games back to back and if we play tonight we'll be playing Warrington three times in five weeks.
"The positive aspects of not playing are that Martin Peters and Rhodri Giggs have completed their suspensions without missing a game.
"Also, Darren Emmett, who didn't play against Glossop or St Helens should also be back to full fitness."
