LEE Sculpher is on the look-out for another defender to shore up Clitheroe's bid for the North West Counties League title.
The championship-chasers are five points clear at the top with a game in hand on Woodley Sports going into tonight's game at St Helens Town.
But boss Sculpher will look to bring in an extra defender during the month he has left ahead of the March transfer deadline.
"We're looking at bringing in a new defender and there's a couple of lads we'll be watching for a second time," said Sculpher.
"We need cover for injuries more than anything, but I have been pleased with the defending in the last two games.
"We kept another clean sheet for the second game running on Saturday so we hope that continues and we don't keep giving away goals the way we have been doing.
"We've conceded quite a high number for a team in our position so we need to look to concede as few as possible in our remaining games."
St Helens are now under the guidance of former Chorley coach Mark Cox, who has lifted them off the bottom of the table.
And a recent victory over Bacup Borough has given Clitheroe a clear indication they can't be taken lightly.
Sculpher said: "We expect it to be a tough game. They have new players under new management team and we are top, which will give them an extra boost.
"They'll want to beat us so we have to approach it the right way to get the points we need.
"Like with Glossop on Saturday, no team is going to surrender three points to us, we have to work for what we get."
Russell Clark will miss tonight's game with injury but Adam Gardener is set to return.
