A PLANNED new track for cyclists and walkers in Lancaster has earned a cash windfall.
The new Marsh Cycling and Walking Safe Route won a boost of £80,000 from the Social, Economic and Environmental Development programme to improve access to work, health, fitness and recreation.
It will aim to reduce traffic congestion and the use of cars while adding to the number of safe routes into the city centre.
"This is a terrific project, which will make a considerable contribution to safe cycling and walking," says Cllr Janice Hanso.
Marsh Tenants and Residents Association suggested the route to the council after a community survey.
