A ROSSENDALE black pudding maker has been short-listed for a top business award. Andrew Holt, owner of RS Ireland, Waterfoot, is one of six businessmen in the running for the Guardian Angel Network's coveted Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Since buying the business 10 years ago Andrew has transformed what was little more than a cottage industry into a booming concern. Andrew has since opened Pudsvile II in Stacksteads, the firm's packaging and distribution centre.

The black pudding king is no stranger to honours. His puddings have earned him well over 100 food industry awards and he has made countless TV appearances, including being part of Rick Stein's Food Heroes series on the BBC.

The winner of the Guardian Angel Entrepreneur of the Year will be announced during an awards lunch at the Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club on Thursday, May 20.

Andrew said: "We are delighted to be in the running for this award, not least because the Guardian Angel project has been so useful for us."
