A 28-YEAR-old man head-butted a police officer driving him to the station after he was arrested.
Blackburn magistrates heard the officer had tried to take evasive action, which resulted in the car swerving across the road.
And, when the vehicle stopped, Mark Alan Heap tried to butt him again.
Heap, 28, of Hereford Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer. He was remanded on bail until April 23 for the preparation of pre-sentence reports with a warning he could face jail.
Clare Fanning, prosecuting, said Heap had been arrested for being drunk and disorderly outside the Jubilee pub. PC Michael Smith had put Heap in the back of his patrol car and had started to drive to Greenbank.
"The officer told him to sit back but he ignored him and launched himself at the officer," said Miss Fanning.
