A FORMER newsagent's shop could become a caf bar under plans submitted to Ribble Valley Council.
Nigel Whiteside of Cross Lane, Waddington, has applied for permission to use 14 Castle Street, Clitheroe, as the venue for a new licensed bar.
The building has planning permission for shop use, having being Martins The Newsagents before that business moved across Castle Street to new premises.
Residents from Saddlers Mews, which backs on to the rear of the proposed bistro, have written to object to the proposals.
They now hope to get support from Clitheroe Town Council, which meets this week, in their opposition.
Objections include the change in use leading to a rise in noise late at night.
They also claim that the new late licence a bar in Lowergate, Key Street Music Bar, has got means there is no need for another licensed venue.
