NIGEL Worthington hailed his high-flying Canaries after earning a first ever win at Turf Moor.

The Norwich boss confessed he went through the whole range of emotions during a thrilling top versus bottom clash.

He said: "It was end-to-end stuff that was good to watch if you are a neutral, but much as it was entertaining for the supporters, I couldn't enjoy the first half because the shape and the defending was abysmal.

"I could enjoy the second half because we scored goals and kept a clean sheet to win the game.

"We showed great character in that second half performance and in the end it was an absolutely magnificent three points.

"To come to Burnley, which is a very hard place to come, and get all three points is a good achievement."

Worthington added: "Defending has been a big strength for us this season, but we didn't have that in the first half.

"We conceded three goals in that first half, and as much as Burnley scored them, we gave them through sloppy play and lack of communication.

"But we showed great character. We kept our heads up and kept chipping away to stay in the game and came out to win it by playing how we can.

"It was important from our point of view to find a quick goal in that second half and at the end of the day we deserve the result on the second half performance."
