AS a provider of both domiciliary and residential care I found the wording of your article (LET, March 25) 'Stay-at-home facilities praised' quite offensive towards many people throughout the country who enjoy better health and living conditions in residential care.
The wording of this article made it sound that living in residential care was a bad thing.
For many people domiciliary care works and works well but there is also a proportion of elderly people who want to live in a communal setting and become very upset at such articles. With the high number of quality residential homes closing I feel the community is losing a precious facility.
I pose the question -- has Mr Peter Pike looked into the high number of hospital admissions from clients receiving domiciliary care against clients in a residential setting?
Surely Mr Pike should be fair to all facilities provided for the elderly in our community!
