STRICKEN striker Dele Adebola is rated touch-and-go for Saturday's relegation showdown at Walsall.
But Burnley defender Dean West faces a fight to play again this season after being ruled out for up to four weeks with an abductor muscle injury.
West missed Saturday's 5-3 defeat to Norwich after suffering the injury in training 48 hours earlier.
And manager Stan Ternent confirmed the right back, who had kept rival Lee Roche on the substitutes bench in recent weeks, will not be fit to contest the position again this month.
However, there was brighter news on the fitness of Adebola, who dropped out of the squad to face Norwich during the warm-up following a recurrence of the stomach strain that surfaced within minutes of his Clarets debut at Bradford.
Scan results have revealed only a small strain, and Ternent is "hopeful" the on-loan Coventry striker will still be fit to face the Saddlers.
Ternent said: "Dele has had an anti-inflammatory jab and we will have to see how he reacts during the week, but I'm hoping he will be okay.
"We really need to get him up and running quickly. Every game is a big game when you are in need of points, and he could make such a difference.
"However, Dean will not play again for three of four weeks, so that's a blow."
Meanwhile, striker Robbie Blake believes Burnley could already be safe if they had enjoyed the luck of many of their rivals.
Sloppy defending again cost the Clarets against Norwich.
But Blake, who is enjoying his best ever season in front of goal, insists he would have more than 21 goals to his name with more good fortune.
He said: "Goals change game and we conceded some sloppy goals.
"We don't get those sort of goals so it's obviously a little deflating for the boys, but we have to be strong and rally and be better at Walsall this Saturday.
"It is a massive week for us with Monday's home game against Watford following on.
"But it's bigger than that because the last seven games are massive and we want to win them all.
"It helps us when the likes of Derby and Gillingham get beat, as they did last weekend. But it's still an uphill battle and only if we stick together will we get there.
"I wouldn't be bothered if I didn't score again between now and the end of the season as long as we get the points we need.
"I still think we have the players to do it - and hopefully we will."
Burnley's final league game of the season, at home to Sunderland on Sunday May 9, has been declared all-ticket.
Tickets are now on sale for the potentially crucial Turf Moor clash, which kicks off at 1pm in line with all other First Division games that day.
