Chorley Lynx...10 Leigh Centurions...78
CHORLEY'S miserable Arriva Trains Cup campaign continued at Victory Park when they were completely overwhelmed by a rampaging Leigh outfit.
Lynx had no answer to the kicking games of Tommy Martyn and John Duffy, or with the power and pace of Neil Turley and Dale Cardoza.
Turley also broke the Leigh points scoring record scoring 42 points with five tries and 11 conversions.
Lynx made their usual poor start by conceding three penalties in the opening two minutes and their only respite in a first half that ended with Leigh leading 38-4 was a try in the 14th minute when Jamie Stenhouse sent in Gary O'Regan.
Chorley reduced the arrears in the six minutes into the second half with a try from Stenhouse which was converted by Neil Alexander.
This was as good as it got for Lynx as Leigh turned on the style to run in another seven tries from Andy Isherwood, Ian Knott, Danny Halliwell, Tommy Martyn and three more for Neil Turley as Lynx totally fell part. Turley added six more conversions to leave him with a club record points total in a match and Leigh with a very easy victory.
