TWO games in four days will fully test the depth of Leigh Centurions' senior squad.

The Easter double of Halifax in the Arriva Trains on Good Friday and then the start of the National League One programme at Whitehaven on Monday could hardly be any tougher.

But if Leigh can come though the holiday programme with their 100 per cent record intact they will have sent a clear message to all their major rivals.

Seven wins out of seven in the Arriva Trains group have already guaranteed Leigh a quarter-final place but they are keen to hammer their superiority home when Halifax come to Hilton Park.

Set our standards

"Although the game doesn't mean a great lot with regard to our qualification, we have set our standards this year and don't want to surrender any advantage we might have built up over them," says coach Darren Abram.

"Halifax have gave us our toughest game of the season so far the other week. They are a quality side and I'm sure they'll be coming over to Leigh with a point to prove.

"We badly want to win this one and take that confidence with us when we go up to Whitehaven on Monday.

"Whitehaven will be one of the main contenders with us for a Grand Final place and if we can go up their and score an early victory, it will be a massive boost."

But Abram is under no illusion just how tough it's going to be to get two Easter wins.

"Even though we won comfortably enough on the scoreboard at Chorley, the game left us with a few players carrying knocks. There were three or four on the treatment table on Monday," he says.

"Knowing we've got two games in four days and then another one six days after that means that I won't be taking any risks with any players. But the beauty of having a quality squad is that I can shift players around if necessary.

"We've set ourselves a target of winning these two Easter games but it's going to take a huge physical and mental effort to do it. But if any squad can, Leigh can."

Dale Cardoza, who injured his knee in his comeback at Chorley after shoulder trouble, looks like he'll miss the Easter programme.

"The physio isn't too sure what the problem is, but if he shows no improvement by the middle of next week we'll send him for a scan," Abram added.

Halifax need to win if they are to avoid a play-off for a quarter-final place. Pat Weisner, Alan Hadcroft, Jamie Bloem and Chris Morley all missed last weekend's win over Hunslet, but could be back for the trip to Hilton Park.
