A PHONE call to his native Trinidad might be the only way Dwight Yorke can seek solace at the moment.

The beleaguered Rovers striker should try to make contact with best pal Brian Lara as soon as possible to convince him he's not the only one going through a bad patch.

While Lara sifts through the debris of his West Indies' team's destruction at the hands of the England tourists, it might be the ideal time for him and Yorke to share sob stories.

There's no doubt that Yorke was longing for sunnier climes at Morecambe last night as he sported gloves on an evening that qualified as positively balmy considering we're still in the football season.

And things hardly warmed up when the game got under way as the former Manchester United forward, frozen out at first team level, barely slipped into second gear as a strong Wolves side strode to victory.

Attempts by Rovers fans to emphasise Yorke's stilted contribution with shouts of 'come on the 10 men' were a little harsh as such a muted atmosphere is hardly likely to inspire any 32-year-old player, particularly one that would have been competing in a Champions League quarter-final this time five years ago.

Indeed, Matt Jansen was looking scarcely more interested in the proceedings than Yorke until he sparked into life with a well-taken goal on 65 minutes.

Then when Matt Derbyshire was brought on to partner him up front, Yorke was pushed back into midfield where he started to pick up more possession and hence make more of an impact.

But his approach remained casual enough to make one wonder what his motivation was for being there.

Still, it looked at this stage as though Rovers, spurred on by Jansen's strike, could claw their way back from 2-0 down, but a late Thomas Stewart goal out paid to those hopes.

David Yelldell caught the eye early on with a hat-trick of saves but he was found wanting in the minute added on for stoppages at the end of the first half when he was beaten to Oleg Luzhny's cross by Michael Townsend, whose soft header looped into the corner.

It was 2-0 11 minutes into the second half when Steffen Iversen, who scored Wolves' first goal in the Premiership at Ewood Park way back in August, flicked the ball on for Matt Barnes-Homer to flash his shot past Yelldell into the corner.

Jansen pulled one back in the 65th minute when Sergio Peter sent him clear and he recovered from a stumble to draw Carl Ikeme and slide the ball past him.

Wolves, however, had the final word three minutes from time when Barnes-Homer's over-hit cross took a ridiculous bounce and sat up nicely for Stewart to convert at the far post.
