POP in and see the 'bobby in the lobby' is the message from a Morecambe beat boss.

Community police beat manager Neil Pigott (pictured) wants resort people to take their worries to him at regular meetings in the Arndale Centre.

He plans to hold a police surgery every Tuesday in the mall.

"I feel that being in the centre, which is a focal point within the community, will give residents a chance to pop in and get to know me better, and vice versa," says Neil.

"I am willing to listen to any concerns that people have - and I hope that by working together we can start to address some of the issues."

As well as being on hand for general advice, PC Pigott will also be available if locals want to talk about any issue in confidence.

"Community policing is all about engaging with the public, being visible and accessible. This opportunity, offered by the centre, allows me to achieve this and I am very grateful," he adds.

Neil will hold the weekly surgery, which he wants help in giving a name, between 1pm and 3pm at the former Shoefayre premises in the Arndale from next Tuesday, April 13.
