FIREFIGHTERS fought two suspected arson fires in Leigh and Astley earlier this week.
The bedroom of a flat at Bright Street, Leigh was left badly damaged by smoke in the early hours of Saturday morning after a suspected arsonist set fire to a bedside cabinet. The suspected arsonist then locked the front door and climbed out of the window.
A transit van parked outside a house at Green Street, Astley, was badly damaged on Monday morning after it was set alight by an arsonist.
The van had been left in gear and shunted forward into a car parked in front. Firefighters were called at 3.26am to tackle the blaze.
No one was injured in either incident and police have now launched investigations.
