SECOND World War veterans will return for a nostalgic visit to the action zones of 60 years ago.
And Leigh Royal British Legion branch President Jan Thomas is reminded the heroes that the branch is hoping to arrange for group visits to commemorate the anniversaries of D Day and Arnhem and the Normandy landings.
Lottery grants ranging from £300 to £1200 for individuals, or £525 to £2,100 for a couple or £780 - £3,150 for a couple and a carer are available to assist with costs. More information from 08456 00 00 121.
Mr Thomas said: "There must be a lot of veterans around the Leigh area, it would be nice to arrange group visits. After this year there won't be anything like it again."
Details of Heroes Return battlefield tours are available from 01622 791939.
If you are interested in going you could contact like-minded ex-service personnel at Leigh RBL meetings held from 7.30pm on the first Tuesday of each month at Leigh Conservative Club, Railway Road.
