A LEIGH church's second successful 24-7 prayer vigil draws to an end on Good Friday.
Since April 1 hundreds of parishioners from throughout the town have headed for Christ Church, Pennington, to take part in the nine day marathon to pray for the town and its people.
Two rooms have been open in Church House, one a free-for-all come-and- go-as-you-please room, and the other a sign-up room where people have committed themselves in advance for an hour long slot.
Members of Pennington Parish, Living Waters, St Peter's, Kings Park and Bethany Evangelical churches all signed up to pass the prayer baton.
The event followed the last 24-7 relay in September last year which was over-subscribed, and which prayed for help for an asylum seeker Christ Church was supporting to be allowed to stay in Leigh.
Sadly the Algerian Christian, who had had a family member murdered and feared death threats, was sent home, after a two and a half year stay, to be reunited with his young family.
THE annual Ecumenical Good Friday service will take place on Friday in Leigh Parish Church grounds at 12.15pm.
