I AM writing to let people in Lancaster and Morecambe know it will be World Lab Animal Week from April 24 to 30 - with world lab animal day falling on Saturday, April 24.
So much unnecessary suffering is caused by experiments on animals, with literally millions being burned, scalded, blinded, crushed, frozen, irradiated and poisoned to death in laboratories for experiments.
There are now many advanced scientific methods which can replace the use of animals, with the added benefit that human data is used, thus avoiding the problem of species differences. These techniques mean better science for both people and animals.
I urge everyone to try to help these unfortunate animals by contacting the NAVS (National Anti-Vivisection Society) at 261 Goldhawk Road, London W12 9PE. Or you can e-mail infor@navs.org.uk or log onto the website at www.navs.org.uk.
Thank your for taking the time to read my letter.
Emily Catherine Chadwick, Morecambe.
