LOTS of muck raised plenty of brass for the Blackpool-based North West Air Ambulance during a fund-raising event with a difference.

Myerscough College mechanisation instructors Adam Eckersley, Steve Slater and Bret Walton held a 24-hour sponsored 'muckathon' at the college near Preston raising more than £2,000 for the air ambulance.

The 'Three Muckateers' helped by students, colleagues and supporters, spread 1000 tonnes of muck to raise money because the air ambulance is 'a major link for the rural community to fast and efficient medical care'.

"It is a service that we at Myerscough College have needed to call upon in the past so we have seen, first hand, the benefits of the service," added Adam Eckersley.

And he thanked students, the college and the rural community - including businesses which donated fuel, tractors and muck spreaders for the event - for their 'fantastic response'.
