POLICE from Lancaster are jetting off to China in a bid to identity more victims of the Morecambe Bay cockling disaster.
Det Chf Insp Steve Brunskill is leading a team of eight officers and an interpreter to the Far East to meet relatives of people believed to be victims. They will also take DNA samples to confirm matches.
It is hoped that the two-week trip will confirm the identity of the 20 cocklers who peri-shed on the sands in February.
The language barrier and some families' concerns about talking to the police have hindered the identification procedure.
