COLNE ...6
OLDHAM TOWN ...2
COLNE took another step towards the North West Counties Division Two championship by demolishing a sharp Oldham outfit at Holt House.
On a heavy playing surface the home side looked the more likely scorers in the first 10 minutes in front of a crowd of 148. And it came as no surprise when a fine move involving Heys, Webster and Simpson released Scott Gizon, whose cross-shot from the edge of the area found the corner of the net.
Colne put the visitors under pressure with four Webster corners causing problems before Gizon grabbed his and the Reds' second with a looping header.
Oldham were back in the game on 40 minutes when James Curley slammed home an unstoppable shot from outside the area.
Any hopes of Town getting back into the game were quickly dispelled when Simpson added Colne's third on the stroke of half-time.
Oldham were under constant pressure in the second half and three goals in eight minutes ended any Town resistance.
Heys scored with a stooping header before hit man Carl Haworth added two in quick succession to complete the rout.
A consolation came late for Town with Curley scoring his second of the night but by this time the game was over as a contest.
