EXTRA events have been added to the annual Leigh Literature Festival.
The Words '04 festival, which runs from April 14 to 17, will hear a radio play called Centenary Street, written and performed by pupils from Sacred Heart Primary School, Leigh.
The play features true stories from people who lived in the town at the turn of the 20th century.
Visitors to Leigh Library, where the festival is to be held, will be able to read the script and listen to the finished play on a listening post throughout the festival.
Next Thursday at 2.30pm, Taffy Thomas will be telling tales and spinning mystical yarns based on the pictures embroidered on his coat in the children's library.
Greener Grass is a recital of poetry by Lorraine Parker, a poet and textile artist with Mancunian connections.
The recital takes place from 2pm to 3pm next Friday in the Derby Room.
There will also be a free drama workshop aimed at 10 to 14-year-olds on Saturday starting from 1pm. Children will take part in improvisations, story telling and sketches with the aim to perform their piece to the public on Saturday evening.
For information on the workshop contact Lisa on 01942 705178.
