YOUNG swimmers, eager to learn new lifesaving skills, met their instructors Colin Kerron and Dorothy Lord at the start of a new Rookie Lifeguard course.
The course, at Marl Pits, Rawtenstall, offers the youngsters an insight into the lifeguards' world, and is teaches new swimming and lifesaving skills, develops teamwork and promotes a sense of responsibility.
Rookies will be working towards a nationally recognised award which is supported by the Royal Life Saving Society.
John Riddy, duty manager, said "The course is open to anyone between the ages of five and 15, but most of the children come from our own well established swimming lessons. "
The Rookie Lifeguard course runs from 7pm on Tuesday evenings at Marl Pits pool. For more information contact 01706 226850.
