BURY Pedalsport got their national league campaign off to a great start last Sunday with a double victory and they were all the sweeter as they were away from home at Birmingham.
The second team were in control right from the start and over the twelve heats ran out winners by 69-45.
Tom Doyle scored a brilliant four ride maximum 16 points. Scott Jarman and veteran Steve Mann each scored 13+2, dropping just one point each to the opposition. Chris Parrish and older brother Michael both scored 12 and Will Collins added five which included two crashes.
The first team were held by the Homesters during the opening heats but by the fifth they were ahead and built up the score steadily to win by 101-73.
Skipper Neil Howarth was in fine form with a bonus maximum 19+1, Fred Rothwell scored 15+2, Paul Dyson 15, Mark Rushby 13, Scott Jarman 10+2, Tom Doyle 10+2, John Whiting 10+1, Steve Mann 9+2.
There is no racing over the Easter weekend. The next Match at Goshen is the following Saturday, April 17, with the first round of the British Youth and Junior League starting at 1pm.
