FROM the many letters in your paper it is very obvious that many people in the borough are deeply unhappy with the new policy on waste.
I have many telephone calls from constituents in my ward complaining about it and talking to people I have found hardly anyone who agrees with it.
Then the other night I was shocked to suddenly find 36 people who all thought it was wonderful and was the best thing since sliced bread.
Who were these people you may ask?
They were the ruling Labour Group on Blackburn with Darwen Council.
Indeed when it was suggested to them that the policy was not working and was contributing to the borough becoming a dirtier place to live, the executive member Coun Andy Kay said there would be no going back to a once a week collection.
We as a Conservative group are committed to going back to weekly collections.
We believe that the majority of the citizens in the borough agree with that and that overall it will make Blackburn with Darwen a cleaner place to live in.
Councillor D PEARSON (Cons), Rawstorne Street, Blackburn.
