CHILDREN were under starters order at a charity race night.
Held at the Lord Raglan in Nangreaves, the fund-raiser netted £1,900 for Bury-based Hurdles, a family support group for children with special needs and disabilities.
Children who "ran" the races were local youngsters and those whose parents are members of Hurdles.
Races were sponsored by local businesses, including the pub. The money will go towards funding a trip to Disneyland Paris for families. Geraldine Greene, chairman of the group, said: "A big thanks must go to local Scout leaders who organised the evening and the Lord Raglan pub where we have held a number of events, as well as the race sponsors."
