IT was showtime for the borough's growers over the weekend when both Tottington and Ramsbottom horticultural societies put on a show.
Although both spring shows were primarily for daffodils, there was also a large array of other plants, flower arrangements, handicraft and children's classes.
Secretary of Ramsbottom Horticultural Society, Keith McCarren, said: "We were a few exhibits down this year but the quality was excellent, and we were supported by the public."
Twenty-nine took part in the show at Ramsbottom Cricket Club with a total of 237 exhibits, compared to 33 people who displayed 296 items last year.
Star of the show was Keith Capper, a former national champion from Brandlesholme, for his daffodils.
"The quality of his exhibits were outstanding, leaving other very good exhibits in second and third place.
"Nine-year-old Lauren Barton won most of the children's classes. She was presented with a trophy and an Easter egg," said Mr McCarren.
Thirty-six exhibitors showed a total of 255 exhibits at Tottington and District Horticultural show, which was held at Greenmount Old School.
Allyson Shaw, secretary of the society, said: "We had a good public turnout. There was a large tombola which tempted many of our visitors to try their luck. The children again excelled themselves with the quantity of their exhibits.
"We would like to thank everyone who helped make the show such a success."
