BAD weather rarely stops criminals from carrying out their business and it failed to stop residents in Whitefield from receiving crime prevention tips from the experts.
Despite a deluge of rain on Tuesday (April 6) crime prevention, trading standards, and police officers, together with Whitefield street wardens, were out in force to pass on handy hints to local householders.
The team set up the crime prevention trailer in Thatch Leach Lane, where they gave people advice on how to deal with bogus callers and showed how to security mark mobile phones.
Organiser of the event, Rose De, who is the area co-ordinator for Whitefield and Unsworth, said: "The weather was unbelievable but we still managed to mark quite a few mobile phones and give out community safety advice.
"This is the second crime prevention day we have organised and we are already planning another one later in the summer. It is a good way of reaching people and a good way of introducing them to the wardens, local police officers and councillors."
