CONFIDENT Colne need a maximum of just four wins to secure the North West Counties Division Two title.

And after an impressive 6-2 win over Oldham Town at Holt House on Wednesday Nigel Coates's squad rotation system is paying dividends.

The Reds boss knew postponements due to their impressive FA Vase run would soon catch up with them and cause headaches towards the end of the season.

But he is pleased his players have proved they are more than up to the challenge.

"We're back to four games every eight days in the next two weeks now.

"The squad rotation has taken some working out and we needed to bring one of two players in because you can't expect everyone to play all of those games.

"We've got an 18-man squad and all the players have been playing relatively regularly because of the number of games we've had.

"We've had to shuffle things about but that's what a squad's for, especially considering we had to beat the three teams directly above us after our Vase run.

"But we did it and I couldn't have asked for more of my players and we've shown now that we can cope as a squad so I'm more than happy with what's to come."

Gavin Cooper could come back into the frame for tomorrow's trip to Daisy Hill after being unavailable for Wednesday's game.

And Coates has paid tribute to new signing Danny Heys for the way he has quickly settled into life at Holt House after moving from Ramsbottom.

"Danny has done very well since he came here," he said.

"He's keen and it has been very easy for him to fit in because he knows the majority of the lads anyway."

Padiham travel to Norton hoping to start a run of three remaining games on a winning note.
