RESIDENTS from Tockholes, Darwen and surrounding areas are being encouraged to take to the moors on Easter Monday to protest against the wind turbines above Edgworth.
Campaigners will set off from the Toby Inn, Edgworth, at 10am for a peaceful protest against the two huge wind tubines proposed for Uglow Farm.
The hour-long walk is the latest in a number of activities by residents to show Blackburn with Darwen Council the strength of opposition to the planning application ahead of members making their decision.
Residents in the surrounding areas have also been leafleted about what is proposed for the site and are being urged to write individual letters of objection to the council.
Hundreds of letters against the proposal have already been submitted to the council which is not expected to make a decision on the application for at least another month.
The two turbines will be around 100 metres high and made of concrete and steel and will be seen for many miles around.
The majority of local residents, including a group calling itself Edgworth Against Turbines, believe the turbines are not necessary, will spoil the look of the countryside and are not efficient enough to warrant the disruption they will cause.
The protest is also supported by Darwen MP Janet Anderson.
