DESPITE attending classes in temporary accommodation until their new school is built next year, pupils at Manchester Jewish Grammar School are still enjoying a full timetable.
Recently, 43 sixth formers were invited to the House of Commons by Bury South MP Ivan Lewis where they spent the day learning about his role as a junior minister.
And as a special treat, Mr Lewis managed to obtain rare tickets for the boys to attend Prime Minister's Question Time.
Mr Lewis said he was looking forward to welcoming next year's intake at the school as the first group of Jewish Grammar boys to be taught in a voluntary-aided school.
The school is temporarily situated in Camp Street, Salford, while a new school is built in on the old site in Charlton Avenue, Prestwich.
The change of status from a private grammar school to voluntary aided will mean the school joins Bury Local Education Authority's "family of schools".
Staff and pupils were visited in Camp Street recently by a representative from Bury LEA, Mr David Pritchard.
Mr Pritchard, who is Deputy Director of Education, was given a tour of the premises and shown some of the students' work.
