A BINGE drinker who took a swing at a police officer ended up being CS gassed, Burnley magistrates heard.
Christopher Holt, 35, of Patridge Hill Street, Padiham, was given 75 hours community punishment by District Judge Paul Firth. He admitted threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, on April 1.
Scott Ainge, prosecuting, said police spoke to the defendant as a result of a report of a man harrassing children. Holt was clearly drunk.
Mr Ainge said Holt threw a punch, did not stop his behaviour and was warned he would be CS gassed. He was told to put his hands behind his back, refused to comply and was gassed and handcuffed.
Geoff Ireland, defending, said Holt could remember nothing about what went on.
