PRESTWICH HEYS...4 RADCLIFFE AMATEURS...3
Bolton Hospitals Cup
WITHOUT a league game last Saturday, Heys faced Radcliffe on Monday night in their first ever game in the Bolton Hospital Cup, with all the proceeds going to the Bolton Hospice.
Against local rivals Ammies, the game developed into a fluctuating affair for both sides, with Heys coming out on top by the odd goal in seven.
John Garrick gave Heys the perfect start with an early strike and Derek Watson added a second minutes later.
At this point Heys could have been forgiven for thinking it would be a stroll, but it certainly wasn't.
Ammies put the Heys defence under a lot of pressure, which was rewarded with two goals as the first half ended all square at 2-2.
The second period saw Heys regain their composure and in doing so they began to play some quality football.
Two superb goals, the first from Marcus Dydyna and a second from Jon Lyons, restored Heys' two goal cushion.
But Ammies were not finished and they hit a third in the final minute.
Heys now face the winners of the Eagley v Bolton County game in the second round, away, scheduled for the week commencing April 26.
HEYS: Rooney, Dydyna, Parry, McGee, Walters, Shaw, Lyons, Woodcock, Garrick, Uddin, Watson. Subs: Orrell, Slater, Hoolighan.
