STAN Ternent is happy to carry on sitting in the stands if it means Burnley battle their way to First Division safety.
The Clarets chief, currently banned from the touchline, spent a nervy afternoon alongside chairman Barry Kilby before Robbie Blake's second half penalty proved enough to earn a crucial victory at Walsall.
Ternent laughed: "I was okay in the stand, but the chairman was a bit lively though!
"I believe we have a 100 per cent record while I've been in the stands and I hope it stays that way. I'll stay up there all the time if that's the case!"
Burnley dominated the clash with their fellow strugglers from start to finish in a thoroughly impressive performance.
And Ternent was quick to praise certain individuals, who played a major role in taking the Clarets to within one win of the magical 50-point safety barrier.
He added: "I thought we played very well. The defenders did very well to get a clean sheet and you can't do much better than that.
"We also created a lot of chances and some of them were very clear-cut. It took a penalty in the end for us to win the game, so at the end we were biting our nails a little when it should have been more comfortable.
"But in the end I'm glad we got the three points because we fully deserved to get them. That hasn't always been the case.
"Neil Wood, in particular, made some terrific runs from midfield. It's important we get people into the box and he got in and missed an early opportunity.
"I don't mind that though because if you keep going in there it will turn and he eventually got us the penalty that won us the game.
"You would always put your money on Robbie from the penalty spot. He's top quality, so it's no surprise that he scored the all-important goal."
Looking ahead to today's equally important home game against Watford, Ternent said: "It will be another extremely tough game and it's massive in terms of the season.
"The three points might well be enough, although I'm still looking for two more wins to get to 53 points and be totally sure.
"But the fans can play a massive part. They have been fabulous all season and we can really give them something to think about if we can win this game.
"It won't be easy because all the teams at the bottom are looking for three points and Watford are a good side.
"But if we can just eliminate the enforced errors, we will be fine."
