PLANS to turn an old mill into three self-contained apartments will be considered by planners in Rossendale this week.
The application relates to a building at the southern end of Lumb Holes Lane which was part of a 19th century woollen mill complex. Under the plans the mill would be converted into three apartments and the access road resurfaced and car parking provided.
Five letters of objection have been received to the plans complanining of extra traffic, loss of privacy, build up of rubbish and worries about sewage provision.
The county council's highways department, however, do not consider the extra traffic would cause a problem. The other concerns were not considered a bar to the plans which are recommended for approval. Because of the historical interest a county archaeologist will make a record of the site before any development begins.
The application will be discussed by councillors at Wednesday's development control meeting to be held at the Astoria, Rawtenstall, from 6.30pm.
