THERE were many excellent performances from the members of Radcliffe Swimming Club at the recent Central Lancashire Swimming Championships, held at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.
Although not every one of the club's 22 competitors were among the medals, all swam well, with many gaining top six placings and new personal best times.
Sam Barrow and Joanne Long were both awarded Junior Champion trophies for their performances on the day.
Sam finished third in the mens 100m backstroke, which was enough to earn him the Junior Mens Champion Cup. He was also runner-up in the boys 14s 50m backstroke.
Although he fell short of a medal place he also swam well in the 50m and 100m freestyle events.
Joanne was awarded the Junior Womens' Champion Cup in the womens 50m freestyle.
She also finished third in the womens 200m individual medley, and performed well in the butterfly (just short of a PB) and 100m freestyle.
Abigail Coop again showed what a good swimmer she is becoming by placing first in the girls 9s 50m breaststroke and second in the 50m backstroke, narrowly missing out on medals in the freestyle (fourth) and butterfly (fifth).
Alice Holden came second in the girls 10s 50m backstroke, while sister Kate had two wins in the girls 12s 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.
Elsewhere, Amy Greig was third in the girls 14s 50m freestyle; Ruth Payne was third in girls 14s 50m backstroke; Michael Thomasson was third in the boys' 13s 50m backstroke; and Louis Szymanski was second in the boys 12s butterfly.
