BURY travel to York City on Tuesday night looking to pile further misery on the Third Division's crisis club.

Chris Brass's men have not won for 14 games and that sequence has resulted in a sickening slide into the relegation places.

Goalscoring has been a particular problem for City who have not found the net in any of their last four encounters.

With that in mind they look like recalling two former Bury players in midfielder Liam George, who has been out of action with shin splints over the past few weeks, and striker Jon Newby, who is currently at Bootham Crescent on loan from Huddersfield Town.

"We will have to get at York early," said Shakers manager Graham Barrow.

"They are sure to be low in confidence and it's up to us to take advantage of that."

The Bury boss was well pleased with the three points picked up against Torquay on Good Friday, a win that almost certainly assures the club their Football League status.

The triumph followed two defeats that threatened to cast a shadow over the run-in and Barrow reckons the squad may have taken their eye off the ball a little too early after a good run.

"We are pleased with the points but we have to kick on now and get something at York," he said.

"There's too many games for us to settle for what we have.

"There was a big sigh of relief when we reached 48 points then we lost those two matches against Boston and Doncaster.

"Maybe we relaxed a little too much, it's up to us to make sure we don't take our foot off the pedal after Friday's win now."

Barrow will be forced to shuffle his pack for tonight's game as influential centre half Dave Challinor has returned to Stockport County following his loan spell.

It was hoped to bring the popular defender to Gigg Lane could be sorted on transfer deadline day but unfortunately a deal failed to beat the clock.

Challinor still has 12 months to run on his Edgeley Park contract but it looks likely that Hatters' boss Sammy McIlroy would be prepared to release the former Tranmere man.

But any severance deal would have to be right for Challinor who was made captain for the day on Friday in the absence of Lee Duxbury.

"Dave has done everything I wanted and more since he came to the club, he's been absolutely fantastic," enthused Barrow.

"I think there was disappointment on both our parts when we didn't sign him permanently on deadline day, but we live in hope.

"It's not just his playing ability that is important to us, it's everything else he brings to the club and from the chats I've had with him he's more than happy to stay with us.

"When you sign a player you always rate them on how well they have done for you and 'Chally' would be in the top slot!"

Duxbury is likely to be recalled for Tuesday night's game after being rested against Torquay.

And now the club are past the 50-point barrier Barrow also be tempted to introduce one or two of the young prospects who have given a good account of themselves in the reserves in recent weeks.

Simon Whaley was on the bench on Saturday while former Manchester City trainee striker Daniel Douglas-Pringle is another who could make the trip to York.

Kick-off is 7.45pm.
