PARISH councils are being urged to join the battle to save two Clitheroe post offices.
Henthorn Road Post Office and Salford Post Office, Whalley Road, are both set to shut by July after a six-week consultation on their futures.
Rural parish councils are now being urged to write to the Post Office opposing the closures on the grounds that they fear rural post offices could be next.
Rural post offices are currently protected from closure, but a new report by post regular PostComm has suggested that thousands could close.
Bruce Dowles, from Bolton-by-Bowland, Gisburn Forest and Sawley Parish Council, said: "These closures which could just be the tip of the iceberg."
