A GROUP of African children will be putting on a colourful show for the public this month in East Lancashire.

More than 30 youngsters from the Bethany Project, a children's home in Tanzania, have been staying in Oswaldtwistle for more than a month to experience English culture.

The group has been visiting sights and sounds across the area, including Blackburn's Ice Arena and Apollo Cinema, and the Accrington Superbowl.

The Bethany Project is run by the Evangelical Church, and it aims to help abandoned or abused children in Africa.

The 31-strong group of four to 18-year-olds, has been staying at the Hope Centre, Watson Street, Oswaldtwistle.

Organiser Elaine Earnshaw said: "The children are really enjoying it. They're not too struck with the weather but they're loving it.

"It's great to see their smiling faces everywhere they go."

The children will be putting on an 'African Experience' for the public, at the Hope Centre, from 7pm on Friday, April 23.

All are welcome to the show, which includes songs, dance, and stories.
