Blackburn Rovers' gutsy victory at Loftus Road on Monday night edged the club a step nearer to safety.
Now the players must show the same desire and commitment against Leicester on Saturday in a game that could ultimately decide both clubs' destinies.
Manchester United's 1-0 victory over the Foxes last night means Rovers can effectively issue the last rites to Micky Adams's faltering side with a first home win since November 29 at the weekend.
A nine-point gap at this stage of the season would be too much for Leicester to make up and with Wolves already resigned to their fate, that would leave four clubs battling it out to avoid the final relegation place.
So if ever there was a time to get behind Graeme Souness and his players then surely it is now.
Blackburn Rovers are lucky in having some of the best fans in the country.
Given the way results have gone at Ewood this season, most sets of supporters would have turned on the team a long time ago.
But the Blackburn faithful have shown incredible patience and understanding during the darkest days of the last five months - the amount of time that's elapsed since they last saw their team win a home game.
Now it's vital they give it one last push for the final three home games of the season.
Those fans who made the long, arduous trip to Loftus Road on Monday night were quite magnificent in the way they backed the team and, believe me, it makes a massive difference.
Even when Fulham went 2-1 up, they never gave up hope and that inspired the players to a thrilling second half fight-back.
The same backing is now needed again on Saturday.
The very nature of the current situation means Rovers are bound to be nervous.
Not only is it a massive six-pointer for both sides, but the fact that Rovers haven't won a home game in nearly five months will also be weighing heavily on the players' minds.
As a result, it's inevitable they'll make mistakes but if the fans keep the faith then so will the players.
The time for finger-pointing and inquests will come at the end of the season.
Right now, it's crucial everyone does their bit to make Ewood an intimidating venue for the opposition and not the home players.
A united club is a stronger club so it's time to pump up the volume.
Home advantage needs to be just that - an advantage.
These Foxes need to be hunted down and scared out of their wits if Rovers are to gain the win that will ensure step two is taken confidently sure-footedly.
