FIRE chiefs have warned of the dangers of gas cylinders following a rubbish blaze off Accrington Road, Burnley.
Fire crews were called to the blaze on waste ground near empty flats on the Barclay Hills estate at about 8.30pm yesterday and found two gas cylinders had been placed on the rubbish.
Sub officer Neil Mark said: "Fortunately we managed to deal with the fire and cool the cylinders, but this could potentially have been a serious incident. If one of those things go off the consequences could be horrendous."
Fire crews took around 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze and no one from nearby homes were evacuated.
