THERE will be a postal ballot for both the district and European elections on June 10, so the parish clerk has been asked to ascertain whether the parish council elections will also be by postal ballot.
All the parish councillors representing Worsthorne-with-Hurstwood will be subject to re-election on June 10. Councillor Ken Smith will be fighting his fifth election.
THE recent Face-to-Face meeting between the borough council and the residents of Worsthorne and Cliviger had been very well attended.
Councillor David Edwards reported that residents said they did not feel the rural areas were sufficiently valued and more could be done to promote rural areas.
CONCERN was expressed regarding the outstanding planning permission for the bungalow at the rear of 4 Daisy Bank.
Parish councillors had requested that the planning application should be decided by the development control committee rather than through delegated powers.
The parish clerk is to check with the planning department that this will be the case.
COUNCILLOR Alan Lawson has agreed to spearhead the tidying up of the Methodist graveyard.
BARRY Robinson, a crime reduction officer based at Padiham, informed the parish council that his job was to help community groups identify problems in their neighbourhoods and also how to access funding to reduce crime. Groups could claim up to £5,000.
He said that the application form would be simple and it recognised that fear of crime was a the issue, rather than statistics.
