York City 1 Bury 1: RELEGATION-threatened York City's two former Bury players combined to deny the Shakers victory at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday night.
Liam George swept in a 24th minute cross from on-loan Huddersfield wideman Jon Newby to earn York only their fourth point in 15 Third Division matches.
It was a sweet moment for George, making his first start for five months after shin-splint problems.
Gareth Seddon, who later limped off injured, fired Bury into a 16th-minute lead when he finished off a surging run with a low, angled drive.
Bury goalkeeper Glyn Garner made a series of outstanding saves in the second half to keep out Darren Edmondson's shot from the edge of the area before denying the impressive George from point-blank range seconds later.
Garner also beat out Darren Dunning's drive 12 minutes from time, but the Shakers also had plenty of chances to steal the points.
