PARISHIONERS and members of the public marked Good Friday in Radcliffe with the annual Procession of Witness.

The event began at St Mary and St Philip Neri RC church in Spring Lane, where a short service was held before the group met on the park across the road.

Members from all the Radcliffe Churches Together sites in the town, from a number of different denominations, joined for the service.

And then the 80-strong procession walked silently from the church to the centre of the town, carrying a cross to mark the special religious event.

In the piazza, the cross was erected in the middle of the group, and James Mannock from St Mary and St Philip Neri church lead a short prayer and hymn.

The Rev Gary Windon, Radcliffe's team vicar, based at St Mary's Church, said: "It was a lovely event, and we had quite a large procession. The weather held off long enough for us to walk to the Piazza and hold the service."
