THE Mayor of Padiham, Councillor Bob Clark and the Mayoress, Mrs Hazel Rushton, were the judges of an Easter Bonnet competition at the Hilton Rest Home on Good Friday.

Their task was made extremely difficult by the high standard of entries, but eventually Violet Parkin, was judged to be the winner.

AT the meeting of Padiham Town Council, Marian Whittaker proposed the formation of a Youth Council for Padiham. She suggested that the council used lessons learned from the Burnley Youth Group which has been so successful.

Coun Whittaker would like to see someone at a senior level in the town forming a Youth Steering Group. Ivy Bank School will produce leaflets and their Head of Personal, Social and Health Education is willing to become involved.

THE barn belonging to Equestrian Services which collapsed into Green Brook has been cleared up.

Padiham Council stated that it was not their wish to drive the firm away from Padiham and their wish is to work with the firm and residents to find solutions to the problems which have occurred in the past.

A POLICE report for Padiham shows a fall in overall crime levels in March. Several suspects have been arrested and warrants served in the area.

However, incidents of anti-social behaviour have risen.

PC Lisa Hodgkinson is to hold a 'Litter Pick' on Saturday, April 24 on the railway line between Pendle Street and Drydan Street.

People who can help should meet at the Church Hall on Pendle Street at 10am.

SUNDAY was a Blue Day for Padiham when the Town Hall was host to Otis Grand and his Big Blues Band.

They certainly made their presence felt with their music which left everyone shattered from stamping their feet and clapping their hands.

The audience had already been thrilled by the powerful voice of Kyla Brox.

After this success it is hoped that Padiham will, in the future, stage it's own Blues festival.

PLANS have been submitted for 55 houses to be built at the Victoria Works and Spa Mill at Padiham.
