BARROWFORD gardeners John Whitford and Brenda Ellis have been busy growing hundreds of plants to sell in aid of Hospice Care for Burnley and Pendle.
John began growing plants and selling them in aid of the hospice many years ago in memory of his wife, who died from cancer.
The sales grew so successful that they were moved to the hospice, where they have been held for the past six years. But John has been suffering from ill health and has been unable to grow the thousands of plants that he and Brenda usually do.
Kaye Bartle, hospice fundraising manager, said: "We haven't come across anybody as dedicated as John and Brenda in growing plants for the hospice.
"Because of John's ill health we will be unable to hold a plant sale at the hospice this year, but people can buy them from their home."
The couple will have perennials and bedding plants available from next week and are selling them from their home at 5 Appleby Drive, Barrowford.
