Now normally we don't take a closer look at most nationalistic mumbo jumbo flics.

That's not because we don't want to but because most of such films tend to be extremely bad.

However, in Sheen at least the film maker is trying his best to tell a story amidst the confusing theories of right and wrong.

Oh we get the usual stereotypical characters like the fundamentalist and so forth but the film centres around a family's struggle to make the best out of a hopeless situation.

Pandit (Raj Babbar) is uprooted from his homeland and settles in the refugee Camps of Kashmir. His daughter Sheen belatedly follows in her father's footsteps where she is faced with the harsh realities of daily life. Also in tow are Mannu (Tarun Arora) and Shaukat (Anoop Sani). The former falls is in love with Sheen and latter a childhood friend of the family.

Bollywood loves to skirt around certain issues and when they are tackled it is always with a certain level of cautiousness.

Sheen could have so much better if it dared to do raise the thinking level a couple of notches.

But it doesn't and that is where it falls flat on its face. The story though is indeed endearing.

SHEEN
