A 23-YEAR-old woman on bail for shoplifting was back in court again after stealing bacon from a Bury store.
Louise Margaret Carty, of Stand Lane, Radcliffe, had admitted stealing two PlayStations worth £57 belonging to Tesco, and was placed on bail awaiting sentence. She then went into Marks and Spencer in Bury and stole seven packets of bacon worth £20.
Bury magistrates adjourned the case until April 22 while Carty, who admitted both thefts, was assessed for a drugs treatment and testing order. She was granted conditional bail.
Mrs Anna Morris, prosecuting, said Carty, who had no previous convictions, had nonetheless used a "professional and premeditated" technique of using a bag lined with silver foil to try and stop detection.
In the first incident, she deliberately placed the play stations inside the bag with the foil lining and left without paying. However, an alarm sounded as Carty attempted to leave the store.
At the police station, she admitted she was on methadone, the heroin substitute, and was also using heroin.
Mrs Morris said the matter was adjourned for reports but, in the meantime, Carty went into Marks and Spencer and stole packets of bacon.
