RESIDENTS will get chance to explore northern parts of Ramsbottom on Sunday with an eight-mile stroll from Burrs Country Park to one of Rossendale's best-known landmarks.
The walk to Ramsbottom's Peel Tower will be along easy terrain and led by one of Bury Council's countryside rangers, Phil Harris.
The monument was originally erected in memory of Lancastrian Sir Robert Peel, founder of the modern police force and a former Prime Minister, in 1852.
Walkers will start at 9am from the chimney at Burrs Country Park and go on to Peel Tower, where a trip to the top has been arranged, before returning to Burrs in the afternoon.
Anyone wishing to go along is advised to book by ringing Phil Harris on 0161 253 7984. Walkers are advised to take their own packed lunches and drinks, waterproofs and suitable footwear.
