A MAJOR road in Astley is in full bloom after 10,000 daffodils flowered to welcome in the start of spring.
The daffodils were planted in November last year by Councillor John Lea on Manchester Road as part of the council's Brighter Boro improvement scheme.
Now local people are reaping the rewards with similar bulb planting schemes being planned for other parts of Astley and Mosley Common.
Cllr Lea said: "We are now enjoying the results of the 10,000 bulbs planted last year, and because of the many positive comments we received we will now extend the scheme."
Any areas in mind which need brightening up with a sea of daffodils should contact their local councillor.
